About the Event

Through an inspiring panel conversation and hands-on ideation workshop, participants
will learn about the devastating impact of food insecurity on Chicago’s Black
communities—from chronic health conditions and reduced cognitive function to
economic instability and diminished quality of life. Members will discover how access to
nutritious food isn’t just a community issue, but a catalyst for professional excellence,
mental clarity, and sustained energy in their own lives.

The event features a dynamic panel discussion with Dion Dawson, award-winning social
entrepreneur and founder of Dion’s Chicago Dream, and Melody Waller, the community
engagement strategist at Advocate Health. Our panelists will share insights on building
sustainable ventures, creating community-centered health solutions, and navigating the
intersection of wellness, innovation, and social impact in Chicago.
